Helping Our Local Community

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Thank you to the Tarpon Springs Police Department and Kohl’s for participating in a recent event held to give some deserving children in our community a special day filled with toys and treats! We were excited to be able to provide the toys to be utilized by the department’s Cops & Kids Program which serves disadvantaged children. It was a truly wonderful day =)

Kids Wish Network Mourns the Loss of a Very Special Teen

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

We are all truly saddened by the passing of 19-year-old Marshall Hill.  On August 19th he lost his brave battle with cancer a little past 11:00pm.

Marshall had an incredible spirit and I felt so privileged to have taken a part in granting his wish. Being able to meet Marshall and his family was an honor and I will never forget them.

Marshall’s wish was for a truck makeover.  Countless people were involved in granting this amazing wish.  The city of Walden, NY honored Marshall with a special ceremony where he was presented with his newly restored 1992 Dodge Dakota.  The look on Marshall’s face when he saw his truck was priceless!  On hand were hundreds of cheering well wishers who came to share this special day with him.  Marshall had touched everyone that day and there wasn’t a dry eye in the town square.  He taught us all about the gift of compassion and what true bravery is.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his mom Lindy and the rest of his family.  If you would like to express your condolences please visit Marshall’s guest page at http://www.fhnfuneralhome.com/

Small town America

Friday, August 1st, 2008

In trying to fulfill a wish for my wish kid, Dalton, in a small town in Illinois I called on an engineering firm. I told the lady that answered about Dalton and she promised she’d get back to me. This is a great story…..She called me back the next day-the firm could not afford a large donation but she was going to do a fundraiser for Dalton. She arranged for the newspaper to comp the print space, the bank to open an account for the fundraiser, and, enlisted the help of her church family. Bottom line, she has raised almost enough to fulfill Dalton’s wish – to swim with the dolphins.

To all those people in small town America – You’re WONDERFUL!
