Yesterday, my fellow development diva Melissa told me about a woman from Michigan who wanted to help children from her home state, so I gathered all the information on the children I’m working on in Michigan. To my surprise, I discovered that I have 10 children there and I sent her all the information about each child’s wish.

Within the hour the wonderful “Michigan Guardian Angel” called me and wanted to know all she could about each child. She was so nice; I could tell she had a big heart. She wanted so badly to help each child with their wish.

What happened next was probably one of the biggest surprises I’ve had since I’ve worked at Kids Wish Network. This wonderful “Michigan Angel” gave a portion of her donation to each child’s wish. This means that every wish child I have who lives in Michigan will receive help from this very special lady.

I talk to our Guardian Angels quite often and they’re wonderful people, but this lady was so amazing that I could barely speak when I hung up the phone! I hope she knows just how special she is and that she’s bringing happiness and lasting memories to the children she helped!

So, because of this, I want to say a very special thank you to this very special lady from Michigan – it is a huge help to so many children!

I am always amazed at just how many wonderful donors we have at Kids Wish Network. They’re always willing to help! It’s no secret that many people are struggling financially, but I’ve spoken with people who are calling to apologize that they are only able to give $5.00 or $10.00 and I always tell them that it’s ok and their contribution counts and they’re helping to make a difference for our wish kids. And it’s so true; with out their support we wouldn’t be able to help so many kids.

So, I just wanted to say thank you to anyone who has supported Kids Wish Network and has continued to do so. I would also like to say a special thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors. And, if you are one of those people who called to apologize, just know that you truly make a difference and you really are appreciated!

It’s not a secret that times are tough. However, even during these tough times, there are still kind-hearted people out there; People who let nothing get in their way to help a child who needs a wish granted. They have a special place in their hearts for children and the story of a child with a life-threatening illness really touches them. They even think “outside the box,” coming up with special ways to raise funds, like the Credit Union who came up with the idea of doing a 50/50 raffle. Then there’s the college that gets all the teachers to come together to help fund a child’s wish, or the American Legion who digs into their own pockets to help a child in need. I wanted to thank all the creative donors out there who go the extra mile to put a smile on the face of a child with a life threatening illness.
