I love it when I work on a child’s wish and when the wish is fulfilled their family shares their pictures with all of us at KWN. It’s great to see the pictures of the wish kid and all the fun they had on their wish. It lightens my heart and brings such joy to know that I’ve helped to put that smile there. It doesn’t have to be a celebrity wish. It could be as simple as a shopping spree or a trip to Disney. Their smiles say it all! It’s one of the many reasons why all of us love to work here at Kids Wish Network. I love to spread smiles around !

Though I don’t like getting up early in the morning, I know I must. C’est la vie, right? Right.

I’m not really awake until I arrive here at Kids Wish Network headquarters, get buzzed in the door and the neon lights shine their luminescence into my squinting eyes.

Once I blink a little bit, I can see the same happy faces in frames that have lined the walls since the day I was interviewed for this position. As you go down the hallways here, you are greeted by dozens of smiles surrounded by all sorts of happy children. Some are at Disney World, some are hugging their favorite celebrities, some in a new pool or hot tub and some are just smiling up at a camera from in front of a brand new computer or game system.

Honestly, I don’t get tired of seeing them all. Who could? I still find myself looking into these smiling young visages every single day as I traipse through the corridors and cracking a smile of my own, knowing that these are the faces of wishes granted.

When I asked Trenton what is was that he wanted for his wish he answered, “I would like a playhouse please, ma’am.” I smiled and thought to myself that most grown-ups aren’t this polite. It was such a pleasure to be involved in creating this special space for Trenton to escape. All he wanted was a place of his own.

Trenton’s Wish Coordinator

I have been working at Kids Wish Network for well over a year now, granting many wishes along the way. I almost feel selfish for the feeling that I get when I make the wish of one of my little cherubs come true. Seeing a little sparkle in the eye of a four –year-old as he hugs Goofy makes my day.

As I sit in my little office cubby, I am surrounded by reminders of the wonderful things that we do here at Kids Wish Network. Pictures, cards, letters and mementos from my wish children and families hang within arm’s reach: Dylan licking the frosting off of a piece of cake at a Disney dinner; Eli giggling and squirming as his favorite author, Jonathan London, reads him a Froggy story; Samantha smiling as the Laguna Beach sun sets behind her; Caleb proudly displaying his new XBOX- just to name a few… The one thing that these children all have in common is a smile. That’s the best part of being a Wish Coordinator- knowing that for a moment in time I played a small part in making these special children happy.
